Our 2016-2017 Season was a colourful mix of sounds from the accomplished Ruby Trio, Acadian pianist Carl Philippe Gionet presenting two of the most important works for piano, Stephen Runge exploring the rich piano music of 1916-1917, and the music of Peter Allen. We also presented Jeunesses Musicales’ Touring Opera La Traviata, soprano Rebecca Caine performing West End Ladies with Robert Kortgaard, and Atlantic Canada’s premier vocal ensemble Helios Vocal Ensemble. We were also delighted to present internationally renowned flute virtuosos Marina Piccinini appearing with Meng Su of the celebrated Beijing Guitar Duo.
Last season, we presented three programs featuring our 2016-2017 Musician-In-Residence Acadian soprano Suzie LeBlanc; they include: Metamorfosi: Songs of the 45th Parallel with Constantinople, A Pocket of Time with Blue Engine String Quartet and pianist Robert Kortgaard, and the opera Le Jongleur de Notre-Dame with Opera Nova Scotia Chorus and Musicians under the direction of Dr. Walter H. Kemp. The season was capped-off with renowned organist Paul Halley and the moving The Majesty and the Mystery, followed by our 2017/18 Season Launch event, and Chicago's YAS Quartet featuring Russian violinist Artem Kolesov.
